DHS: African Nationals Cross Into Texas


On May 29, 2019, as the number of confirmed Ebola cases approaches 2,000, charities urged the United Nations to significantly scale-up Ebola prevention in the Democratic Republic of Congo to the highest level of emergency response.

The current outbreak began in early August 2018. Attempts to check the epidemic have been undermined by protracted, civil conflict in the region and community mistrust of health-workers leading to a spike in the number of new cases as the virus continues to spread unchecked.
