No Booming Economy for Truckers

In the trucking industry, earnings of big and small players alike are getting hit as factory activity continues to decline.

Six trucking companies have completely folded in 2019 leaving more than 2,500 truck drivers unemployed. After a hugely profitable year in 2018, this year has seen retailers and manufacturers moving less, according to the Cass Freight Index, which has been a pretty spot-on indicator of a recession.

  1. I have a friend who works for a manufacturer here in New England. She told me months ago, shortly after the China tariffs that her boss said business had dropped off significantly. Every time I hear Trump saying how great the economy is, I think of her remarks. I’ve gotten very suspicious of this repeated mantra. This report says a lot. Thank you. (Sending small donation – wish I could send mega bucks. You deserve it!)
